Government Agencies

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is the principal agency in the U.S. for protecting the health of all Americans.  There are over 300 programs associated with HHS, including health research, disease prevention, medicare and medicade.  All of these programs would be of interest to someone with PKD or involved in PKD research.  This site provides basic coverage for all the details of PKD and our government’s work to solve the problem.

National Institutes of Health

The National Institutes of Health is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  The NIH has been around for over a century and is the primary federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research, with 27 Institutes and Centers.  This is a very good agency for finding the latest on PKD research and development because the NIH helps improve lives and save lives with the advancement of medical discoveries.  The NIH website provides more extensive results than the HHS and is a good place to visit for anyone looking for reliable, factual and up-to-date information on PKD.
