Jack's Kidney Adventure

This blog follows the life of one man, Jack, who was diagnosed with PKD at the age of 50.  Ten years later, Jack is now on a transplant list and must go to the hospital three times a week to receive hemodialysis.  The blog begins in April of 2006 when Jack went for his first dialysis treatment.  Since then, it has continued to follow his struggle between leading a normal life and going to dialysis, doctor appointments and the other things he must do because of his kidney disease. This blog is a good source for those who are interested in knowing more about the effects of PKD from the first person perspective.  For people who are affected by PKD, it serves as a good resource to connect, learn from, and sympathize with someone else who is living with PKD.  This blog should not be used by people looking for general facts and information about PKD because this follows an individual case and all cases are different.

Kidneys and Eyes

This blog is written from the parents of two children suffering from Autosonomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD).  The blog chronicles their lives as they struggle to have a normal life while battling PKD.  The blog is a useful site for those looking at a glimpse into the life of a child suffering from PKD.  The older of the two children has even undergone dialysis treatment and a kidney transplant so this family has seen many of the issues that PKD patients deal with.  The blog is also useful for other patients or family members of patients who are looking for someone going through similar things.  While this source does provide good insight into PKD, the two children also suffer from an eye disorder known as Ocularmotor Apraxia and some of the children’s health issues are because of that disorder and not because of PKD.
